Lufthansa Boarding Pass — Get, Download & Reprint

Everything about your Lufthansa (LH) boarding pass: how to get it, re-download a lost one, mobile vs printed, and airport timings.

Verified June 2026
How to get your Lufthansa boarding pass: Lufthansa online check-in opens 30 hours before departure — choose your seat and print your boarding pass or have it sent to your phone by email or SMS link. If you have automated check-in enabled, your pass is issued about 23 hours before. The mobile pass can be stored offline in the Lufthansa app, iOS Wallet or Google Pay.

Lost it? How to re-download your Lufthansa boarding pass

Re-retrieve your boarding pass via online check-in (booking reference/ticket number or Miles & More login) or the Lufthansa app; an offline copy lives in the app or your phone's Wallet.

Mobile vs printed pass

A mobile boarding pass is available for almost all Lufthansa destinations and works offline via the app/Wallet. Important exception: where official regulations prevent a mobile pass, Lufthansa issues only a check-in confirmation and you receive the actual boarding pass at the airport counter — this can apply to some India international departures.

A mobile (digital) boarding pass is accepted at Indian airports by the airlines that issue one — there is no official rule requiring a printout, and Delhi Airport markets fully paperless domestic travel. That said, carry a valid government photo ID at all times (it is checked at terminal entry alongside your boarding pass or ticket), and for international departures most airlines still verify your travel documents at the counter before issuing the final pass.

Airport check-in fee & gate timings

Lufthansa does not charge for airport check-in. Note the mobile pass is not available for codeshare flights operated by another carrier.

Lufthansa does not publish a fixed gate-closure minute on its general check-in pages — check your itinerary and airport screens, and arrive in good time, especially for the counter document check on international departures.

International Lufthansa flights

Key India rule: when official regulations block a mobile boarding pass, Lufthansa gives you only a check-in confirmation online and hands you the real boarding pass at the airport counter. So on some ex-India departures you must still visit the counter even after checking in online — carry your passport.

Using DigiYatra (paperless airports)

DigiYatra is the free, optional facial-recognition system at 38 Indian airports (including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Navi Mumbai). You enrol once with Aadhaar, but you must upload your boarding pass for every flight and share it with the departure airport (the e-gate scans the boarding-pass QR first, then your face). It is domestic-only — international departures are still on the roadmap — and passengers travelling with infants cannot use it. Even DigiYatra users should carry a physical government photo ID.

Lufthansa boarding pass — FAQs

Why did Lufthansa only give me a check-in confirmation, not a boarding pass?

On some international departures — including from India — official regulations prevent Lufthansa from issuing a mobile boarding pass. In that case online check-in gives you only a confirmation, and you receive the actual boarding pass at the airport counter. Carry your passport and allow counter time even though you checked in online.

Can I store my Lufthansa boarding pass in Apple Wallet?

Yes — after online check-in (which opens 30 hours before departure) you can store the mobile boarding pass offline in the Lufthansa app, iOS Wallet or Google Pay. The exception is when official regulations require a counter-issued pass, or for codeshare flights operated by another airline.

Is a mobile boarding pass accepted for Lufthansa in India?

A mobile (digital) boarding pass is accepted at Indian airports by the airlines that issue one — there is no official rule requiring a printout, and Delhi Airport markets fully paperless domestic travel. That said, carry a valid government photo ID at all times (it is checked at terminal entry alongside your boarding pass or ticket), and for international departures most airlines still verify your travel documents at the counter before issuing the final pass.

Can I use DigiYatra for my Lufthansa flight?

DigiYatra works with any airline at 38 Indian airports, including for Lufthansa flights — it reads your face instead of checking documents at three checkpoints.
