That said, carry a valid government photo ID at all times (it is checked at terminal entry alongside your boarding pass or ticket), and for international departures most airlines still verify your travel documents at the counter before issuing the final pass.

Across IndiGo, Air India Express, SpiceJet, Akasa and Star Air the boarding gate closes 25 minutes before departure — be at the gate at least 30 minutes prior. Reach the airport about 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one.
