Step-by-step: what to do now
- 1 Do NOT cancel the ticket immediately. First, gather your visa-rejection letter — many insurance/Smart Saver claims require this as proof.
- 2 If you have HappyFares Smart Saver (CFAR), trigger the claim through HappyFares customer care. CFAR refunds 60-80% within 5 business days; no proof of rejection needed (any reason qualifies).
- 3 If you have travel insurance with visa-rejection cover (Acko Flight Protection, ICICI Lombard Travel, Tata AIG TravelGuard), file the claim with: visa-rejection letter, original ticket, booking confirmation, and rejection-cause statement.
- 4 Check your credit card. Cards like HDFC Infinia, ICICI Emeralde, AmEx Platinum, Citi Premier include travel insurance with visa-denial cover — typically up to ₹50,000 per trip.
- 5 After all the above claims are filed, cancel the airline ticket under the standard fare rules. Whatever the airline refunds adds to your total recovery.
- 6 For non-refundable Saver fares, the airline portion will likely be ₹0 (only taxes refunded), and your recovery depends entirely on the CFAR + insurance + credit-card stack.
