Maharashtra has made it mandatory for travelers from 4 states to take an RT-PCR at their arrival

The Maharashtra Government has made RT-PCR test compulsory for people traveling from 4 states Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa. The new rule effective from November 25 applies to all domestic passengers, and it is mandatory to take the test at least 72 hours before the date of travel. The Govt. has introduced the requirement to place curb over the rapid movement of people in view of the threat of a second wave of coronavirus cases.

A total of 120 domestic arrival passengers underwent the RT-PCR test at Mumbai Airport on Wednesday, November 25th the day one implementation of the Maharashtra State Government. According to reports, no passenger tested positive. Mumbai Airport has a facility to test 3,000 to 5,000 passengers daily.

Maharashtra chief secretary Sanjay Kumar issued the new operating procedure on Monday and it came into effect from Wednesday. Air travelers will need to take an RT-PCR test 72 hours before travel to the state. Airline travelers not carrying a negative RT PCR report will have to take a test on arrival in Maharashtra. Only after the test, a passenger may be allowed to proceed home, if the result is negative. The passengers who are arriving will have to share their contact details and if the test result is positive, they will be treated as per protocol. They will be directed to a kiosk for testing. The price for the RT-PCR test is fixed at Rs.1400/-.
