Vistara Airlines has announced plans to launch direct, nonstop flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow from January 16, 2021. This is the second route on the long-haul operations that comes during the tough times of the CoVid-19 pandemic. Vistara will operate special, non-stop flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow from January 16 through March 27, 2021, for now.
The three times weekly service will be operated by a brand-new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring economy, premium economy and business class, the last of which will offer fully flatbeds. Customers can also avail the free inflight Wi-Fi internet access.
During this period, Vistara will fly thrice a week between the two cities—on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Flights will depart from Mumbai on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 13:15, arriving into Heathrow at 17:35, with the return leg leaving London at 20:20, landing back into Mumbai at 10:55 the following day.
The new route joins Vistara’s initially launched service between Delhi and London Heathrow, and is part of the ‘transport – air bubble’ agreement between India and the UK.
Mr. Leslie Thng, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, said, “We are delighted at the very positive response to our service between Delhi and London Heathrow which has encouraged us to further strengthen the network by adding connectivity from Mumbai as we see considerable demand between the two countries, and remain optimistic about the future. Vistara is well-positioned with its brand new fleet, world-class cabin products, award-winning service, and more importantly, the trust of our customers.”
The airline will deploy its B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the route to provide non-stop flights to travelers in both directions. Vistara is also seeking necessary regulatory approvals to start similar special flights to Paris, France and Frankfurt, Germany soon.
The round-trip fares from Mumbai to London starts from ₹ 46,799 in Economy Class, ₹ 77,899 in Premium Economy, and ₹ 157,599 in Business Class. Air ticket bookings for these flights are available on all channels, including Vistara’s website, mobile app, and through travel agents such as MakeMyTrip, Happyfares and others.
Once Vistara starts its service in this route, it will have to compete with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic who will also operate on this route. However, it is excellent news for Vistara and its patrons, given how the airline is getting a toe-hold into the London Heathrow market and should be able to build upon its presence there after getting started with operations.
