Step-by-Step: SpiceJet Web Check-In on spicejet.com

  1. Open spicejet.com in any browser.
  2. Click "Web Check-In" in the main navigation (or find it under the Manage menu).
  3. Enter your 6-character PNR number (e.g., AB1234) and the lead passenger's last name.
  4. Click Retrieve — your booking details appear.
  5. Select the passengers you're checking in (you can check in all passengers on the same PNR simultaneously).
  6. Choose your seat: A seat map appears. Standard seats (rear cabin, middle row) are free. Exit-row, front, and SpiceMax seats cost ₹100–₹500 extra.
  7. Review the check-in summary and click Confirm.
  8. Your boarding pass is displayed — choose to download as PDF, email to yourself, or display as a mobile QR pass.
📱 Mobile tip: Screenshot your boarding pass immediately after downloading — airport Wi-Fi can be slow, and you don't want to be fumbling with a PDF at the security scanner. A screenshot in your phone gallery is faster than reopening the app.

SpiceJet App Check-In: Step-by-Step

  1. Download the SpiceJet app (free on iOS App Store / Google Play).
  2. Open app → tap My Trips at the bottom navigation.
  3. If your booking isn't synced, tap Import Booking → enter PNR and last name.
  4. Tap your booking → tap Check In (appears when within the 48h window).
  5. Select passengers → choose seats → confirm → tap Get Boarding Pass.
  6. The app stores the boarding pass in-app with a QR code. It also sends a push notification with a direct boarding pass link.

SpiceJet Seat Selection During Check-In

Free Seats

SpiceJet offers free seat selection for most seats in the rear of the aircraft during web check-in. On a Boeing 737-800, that's typically rows 20–33 (standard economy). Availability depends on how many passengers have already checked in.

Paid Seats

Seat CategoryLocationFee Range
SpiceMax (front cabin)Rows 1–5₹300–₹500
Exit Row (extra legroom)Rows 12/13 typically₹350–₹600
Window/Aisle (preferred rows)Rows 6–15₹100–₹300
Standard Middle (front section)Rows 6–15₹100–₹200
Standard (rear cabin)Rows 18+Free
💡 Free exit-row hack: Exit rows sometimes show as available for free at T-48h (exactly when check-in opens) for a brief window before the system locks them as paid. If you check in right when the window opens, you may snag an exit row seat without paying. Results vary by flight and load factor.

Documents Required at the Airport

Web check-in does NOT eliminate the airport security process. At the CISF checkpoint you still need:

  • Digital or printed boarding pass (mobile QR or PDF)
  • Government-issued photo ID matching the name on the ticket:
    • Aadhaar card (physical or DigiLocker)
    • PAN card
    • Passport
    • Voter ID (EPIC)
    • Driving licence

DigiLocker (official government app) is accepted at all major Indian airports as of 2025. The printed physical ID is no longer mandatory if DigiLocker shows the Aadhaar or driving licence.

Special Cases: When Web Check-In Doesn't Work

SpiceJet's web check-in system may prevent you from completing the process in the following situations. Go to the airport counter instead:

  • Unaccompanied minor (child travelling alone) — must check in at the counter with guardian.
  • Wheelchair assistance or special assistance booking — must be verified at the counter.
  • Group bookings (10+ passengers on separate PNRs) — individual PNRs can web check-in separately; linked group PNRs may need the counter.
  • International flights requiring visa verification — counter check-in required for visa stamp check.
  • Infants on lap (no seat assigned) — infant-in-arms passengers need counter check-in.

SpiceJet Airport Arrival Times After Web Check-In

Even with a mobile boarding pass, allow sufficient time for security and boarding:

Flight TypeRecommended ArrivalMinimum (with web check-in)Boarding Gate Closes
Domestic (no checked bags)90 min before60 min before25 min before
Domestic (with checked bags)90 min before75 min before25 min before
International (DEL/BOM hubs)2.5 hrs before2 hrs before45 min before

SpiceJet is strict about gate closure times. Missing the gate by even 2 minutes can result in denied boarding with no refund. The web check-in boarding pass does not guarantee boarding if you arrive late — it only saves the airport counter queue.
