How to Web Check-in IndiGo (Website)

  1. Open goindigo.in/web-check-in
  2. Enter your PNR (6-character code from the ticket email) and the lead passenger's last name (exactly as on ID)
  3. Click "Continue" — the system loads your flight and seat map
  4. Select seats: free seats appear green; XL seats (₹400–₹900 extra) green; preferred seats orange (₹150–₹400); emergency-row pink (₹400+)
  5. Review the boarding pass — verify name spelling, flight number, gate (if listed), seat number
  6. Download as PDF or save the QR code to your phone gallery for offline access
  7. Email/SMS the boarding pass to yourself as a backup

How to Web Check-in IndiGo (App)

  1. Open the IndiGo app (iOS/Android, free download) — log in with your registered email/phone
  2. Tap "My Trips" → select the upcoming flight
  3. Tap "Web Check-in" — the seat map loads
  4. Select seats, then tap "Check-in"
  5. The mobile boarding pass appears with a QR code; tap "Add to Wallet" (iOS) or "Save to Gallery" (Android)
💡 Pro tip: The IndiGo app stores boarding passes offline and survives airport network drops better than the website-issued PDF. Always check-in on the app if you have it installed.

IndiGo Seat Selection: Free vs Paid

Seat TypeDescriptionFee (Domestic)Fee (International)
Standard (rear)Most rows past mid-cabinFreeFree
Preferred (front rows)Rows 1–10 (excluding emergency)₹150–₹400₹400–₹900
Emergency ExitExtra legroom row₹400–₹600₹900–₹1,500
XL Seat (extra legroom)Wider seats, more pitch₹400–₹900₹1,200–₹2,500

If you don't select a seat during web check-in, IndiGo will auto-assign one at the gate — usually toward the rear of the aircraft. Group bookings (3+ passengers) are usually kept together by the auto-allocation algorithm.

DigiYatra Integration with IndiGo

DigiYatra is India's facial recognition airport access programme (free, voluntary). After enrolling once on the DigiYatra app with your Aadhaar + boarding pass scan, you can walk through dedicated DigiYatra lanes at all major Indian airports (DEL, BLR, BOM, HYD, MAA, CCU, COK, PNQ, JAI, GAU) without showing physical ID/boarding pass at three checkpoints (entry, security, boarding gate).

To use DigiYatra with IndiGo: complete web check-in normally, then in the DigiYatra app tap "Add Boarding Pass" and scan the IndiGo PDF/QR. The boarding pass is digitally linked to your face for the duration of the flight.

What If You Miss the Web Check-in Window?

If you miss the 60-minute domestic / 90-minute international cutoff, you must check in at the airport counter. IndiGo charges a "Airport Check-in Fee" of ₹300 (domestic) / ₹600 (international) per passenger for counter check-in if the web check-in window was still open at the time you arrived at the airport. If you arrive after counter closing (T-45 domestic), you may be denied boarding.

⚠️ Important: Even with a web check-in boarding pass, you must reach the airport at least 90 minutes before domestic / 180 minutes before international departure. The boarding gate closes 25 minutes before departure.

Web Check-in + Baggage Drop Process at Airport

If you have only cabin baggage: skip the check-in counter entirely. Show your boarding pass + ID at security directly.

If you have checked baggage: head to the "Bag Drop" counter (look for IndiGo-branded short-queue lanes — usually 5–10 minute wait vs 30+ minutes at full check-in counters). The agent will tag your bag, scan your boarding pass, and you're done in under 3 minutes.
