"PNR not found" or check-in restricted: Re-check the PNR (6 characters) and last-name spelling against your ticket. Some international, codeshare, or special-fare bookings can’t be checked in online — in that case use the airport counter.
It won’t proceed without paying for a seat: Pick any free/standard seat to continue — preferred, window, aisle and extra-legroom seats are chargeable, but a standard seat lets you finish check-in at no cost.
Name doesn’t match / spelling error: Minor spelling differences are usually fine. For a real mismatch, contact Air India to correct it before travel, or check in at the airport counter with your photo ID.
