VietJet Fare Types for Indian Travellers: Eco, Deluxe, SkyBoss

VietJet currently sells four fare classes: Eco (cabin bag only), Deluxe (adds a checked bag, seat selection and a meal only on VietJet’s Australia and Kazakhstan routes), SkyBoss (priority boarding, bigger baggage allowance and free changes) and Business (the airline’s top cabin, relaunched from 1 January 2026). Indian travellers flying to Vietnam can book any of the four on routes out of Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi.

VietJet is one of the main low-cost options connecting India to Vietnam, and its fare names can be confusing because the airline has repeatedly rebranded its premium cabins over the past couple of years. Here is what each class actually includes right now, verified against VietJet’s own fare rules page rather than a third-party summary, since bundled inclusions on budget carriers tend to shift from one sale campaign to the next.

The short version: Eco and Deluxe are the two economy-style fares most leisure travellers will compare, while SkyBoss and Business sit above them for flyers who want more baggage, flexibility and comfort without necessarily paying full-service international prices. Picking the right one mostly comes down to how much baggage you are carrying and whether your travel dates are fixed.

What does Eco include?

Eco is VietJet’s base fare. It comes with cabin baggage only (7 kg) and nothing else bundled in. Checked baggage, seat selection and meals are all paid add-ons, and the fare generally does not allow changes. This is the fare to pick only if you are travelling light and are not planning to add anything later, since buying add-ons separately after booking usually costs more than paying for a bundled fare upfront.

It is worth doing the maths before you book Eco purely because the headline price looks lowest. If you know you will need even one checked bag and a seat near your travel companion, add up what those cost as paid extras on Eco and compare the total to a Deluxe fare on the same flight. Often the gap is small enough that Deluxe works out cheaper once baggage is included, and you get the flexibility of a fare that allows changes.

What do Deluxe and SkyBoss add?

Deluxe bundles in a checked bag (around 20 kg on most routes, more on a few long-haul routes), a meal only on VietJet’s Australia and Kazakhstan routes (not on India-Vietnam flights), and seat selection on standard seats, subject to availability. Changes are allowed but you pay the fare difference.

SkyBoss sits above Deluxe. It carries a larger checked baggage allowance, priority seat selection, a meal included, and free changes (fare difference may still apply). It is a standard seat, not a lie-flat one, so think of it as VietJet’s premium economy-style bundle rather than a business product.

What is the Business class, and is it actually available?

VietJet relaunched a dedicated Business cabin from 1 January 2026, with its own forward cabin, the largest baggage allowance of the four fares, priority handling and a full meal service. Some of VietJet’s own promotional pages have carried different windows for SkyBoss and Business availability on specific sale campaigns, so if you are booking Business or SkyBoss for a date many months out, it is worth confirming the fare is still bookable on vietjetair.com before you plan around it, since budget carriers sometimes adjust premium cabin availability by route and season.

Which Indian cities have direct VietJet flights to Vietnam?

As of now, VietJet operates direct flights between India and Vietnam from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi, connecting to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang depending on the route. Bengaluru and Hyderabad have also seen VietJet connections to Ho Chi Minh City. Frequencies change with the season, so always check the live schedule for your exact dates rather than assuming a route runs daily.

What should Indian travellers check before booking?

Decide early whether you need checked baggage: Eco does not include any, and buying it later at the airport costs more than adding it during booking. If your plans might change, Deluxe or SkyBoss are more forgiving than Eco, which typically does not allow changes at all. And because Vietnam requires Indians to arrange an e-visa or e-visa equivalent before arrival, sort that out before you lock in non-changeable fares.

Common Questions

Can I select a seat on an Eco fare?

Not for free. Seat selection on Eco is a paid add-on, and even on Deluxe it depends on availability.

Is SkyBoss the same as Business class?

No. SkyBoss is a standard cabin seat with extra inclusions and priority handling. Business is a separate, smaller forward cabin with the airline’s highest service tier.

Do meals come with every fare?

Meals are generally included from SkyBoss upward. On Deluxe, a meal is included only on VietJet’s Australia and Kazakhstan routes, not on India-Vietnam flights. On Eco, food is a paid extra.

Can I change a Deluxe ticket for free?

Changes are permitted on Deluxe, but you pay any fare difference between your original ticket and the new one.

Which Indian cities should I check first for direct Vietnam flights?

Start with Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi, since these have had the steadiest direct VietJet service to Vietnam. Always confirm the current schedule before booking.

Is Deluxe worth it over Eco for a short leisure trip?

For most leisure travellers carrying at least one checked bag, yes. The combined cost of baggage and a seat added separately to Eco often comes close to or exceeds the Deluxe fare, and Deluxe also gives you the ability to change your flight if plans shift.

Do VietJet’s fare names apply the same way on every route?

The four fare names are consistent, but exact baggage weights and what is included can vary slightly by route, particularly on VietJet’s longer international sectors. Always check the fare rules shown for your specific flight before paying.
