Haj 2027 from India: Application Timeline and Costs Explained

The Haj Committee of India already announced its Haj 2027 policy and ran the application window from 22 June to 20 July 2026, with selection by digital draw soon after. For 2027, the Committee’s embarkation list grew to 19 cities, with Patna added (subject to clearance) and Kolkata newly offered for the shorter package. HappyFares does not arrange Haj pilgrimages, it only sells flights, but here is what the official timeline and 2026 costs suggest for 2027.

Haj from India runs through a single official channel for most pilgrims, the Haj Committee of India, working with the Ministry of Minority Affairs. This is a plain look at the 2027 timeline and known costs. A private tour operator route also exists for Haj travel, but HappyFares does not arrange Haj in any form, it only sells flights.

When did the Haj 2027 application window run?

The Ministry of Minority Affairs announced the Haj Policy 2027 and the Haj Committee of India opened applications on 22 June 2026, closing at 11.59 pm on 20 July 2026. Provisionally selected pilgrims were chosen through a digital random draw, known as Qurrah, in the last week of July 2026. If you are reading this after that window, note that each year’s applications open and close on a similar cycle, roughly from June to July, with exact dates announced fresh each year, so watch the Haj Committee’s own site ahead of the next cycle.

Which cities can pilgrims fly from?

For Haj 2027, the Haj Committee of India listed 19 embarkation points across the country: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Calicut, Delhi, Gaya, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kannur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Srinagar and Vijayawada, up from 18 the previous year, with Patna the new addition, subject to clearance from the civil aviation and home ministries. Kolkata, already a regular embarkation point, was also newly made available for the Committee’s shorter Haj package. Whether a given city stays on the list depends on the Committee’s fresh guidelines each year, so check the current Haj Policy document rather than assuming a past list still applies.

What did Haj 2026 cost, and what might that mean for 2027?

This is the 2026 figure, not a 2027 one: the Haj Committee of India’s Haj 2026 package cost ranged from roughly Rs 3.43 lakh for pilgrims departing from Ahmedabad, the lowest, to roughly Rs 4.19 lakh for those departing from Vijayawada, the highest, with the difference driven mostly by the chartered airfare to each embarkation point. That revision followed a one-time increase the Ministry approved for 2026 to cover higher aviation fuel costs. Haj 2027 costs would be set fresh by the Committee, and typically move with fuel prices and the India-Saudi Haj agreement for that year, so treat the 2026 figures only as a reference point, not a quote for 2027.

When is Haj expected to fall in 2027?

Haj dates follow the Islamic lunar calendar, so they are confirmed only once the moon is sighted each year, and they shift earlier by roughly ten to twelve days on the Gregorian calendar every year. Based on current astronomical estimates, Haj 2027 (8 to 13 Dhul Hijjah 1448 AH) is expected to fall in mid-May 2027, roughly ten to eleven days earlier in the year than Haj 2026, which took place in late May 2026. Treat this as an estimate until the moon sighting confirms the exact dates closer to the time.

Does HappyFares arrange Haj travel?

No. HappyFares sells flights only. It does not arrange Haj or Umrah packages, visas, accommodation or ground arrangements for the pilgrimage itself. Pilgrims going through the government route apply directly through the Haj Committee of India, and those using the private route go through a Haj Group Operator accredited for that purpose. HappyFares can help with flights for connecting travel around a Haj trip, such as for family members flying separately, but not with the pilgrimage arrangements themselves.

Common Questions

Is it too late to apply for Haj 2027?

The official application window for Haj 2027 through the Haj Committee of India ran from 22 June to 20 July 2026 and has since closed. Watch the Committee’s own site for the Haj 2028 announcement in the months ahead.

Does the Haj Committee of India handle all Haj travel from India?

Most pilgrims go through the Haj Committee of India’s own quota, split roughly 70:30 with the private sector, where pilgrims travel through Haj Group Operators accredited for that purpose.

Why did Haj 2026 cost more from some cities than others?

The cost difference between embarkation points, for example Ahmedabad being the cheapest and Vijayawada the most expensive in 2026, was driven almost entirely by the chartered airfare to that city, not by the pilgrimage arrangements themselves.

Will Haj 2027 fall earlier in the year than Haj 2026?

Yes, by roughly two weeks, since Haj follows the Islamic lunar calendar, which shifts about ten to twelve days earlier each Gregorian year. The exact 2027 dates depend on the moon sighting closer to the time.

Can I book my own flight to Jeddah for Haj instead of going through the Committee?

Haj travel from India for the pilgrimage itself is organised through the Haj Committee of India or an accredited Haj Group Operator, not through ordinary flight booking, because of the Saudi Haj visa and the chartered flight arrangements involved.

Does HappyFares sell Haj packages?

No. HappyFares sells flights only and does not arrange Haj or Umrah pilgrimage packages in any form.
